Supervised Consumption Sites are clinical settings where patients can use drugs in as safe a manner as possible. Clients are supplied with sterile equipment and the clinics are staffed by medical professionals who can respond in the case of an overdose. Once controversial, research clearly shows the benefit of these sites, and they have started opening in the United States.
