We’re seeking writers for our Research Updates (RU) and Clinical Updates (CU) for the Carlat Report newsletters:
- The Carlat Psychiatry Report
- The Carlat Child Psychiatry Report
- The Carlat Addiction Treatment Report
- The Carlat Hospital Psychiatry Report
- The Carlat Geriatric Psychiatry Report
Research Updates
We’re looking for writers who can analyze research results from clinical studies, and then turn those results into brief, well-written articles (approximately 350 words). We provide the studies, you offer your clinical expertise and writing skills to turn that data into concise but compelling prose. We have easy-to-follow guidelines on writing RUs, with plenty of support from our editorial team.
Here are some examples of recent Research Updates to give you an idea:
- Does Haloperidol Improve Hospitalization or Mortality in Delirium? (General Psychiatry)
- Ziprasidone for Mania in Bipolar I Disorder in Children and Teens (Child Psychiatry)
- Buprenorphine versus Methadone for Prescription Opioid Use Disorder (Addiction Treatment)
- Antipsychotic Polypharmacy: Maybe Not So Risky After All? (Hospital Psychiatry)
- Therapy in Dementia? Choose CBT (Geriatric Psychiatry)
Clinical Updates
The process for Clinical Updates is similar. We provide a basic outline, reference recommendations for a 1000-word article on a specific topic, and content and style guidelines. Clinical Updates are usually written by clinicians with particular expertise and interest in that topic. We offer an honorarium for your time for each RU and CU that we publish, and you'll also receive a free CME subscription to the newsletter (or newsletters) of your choice.
Here are some examples of recent Clinical Updates to give you an idea:
- A Personalized Approach to Antidepressant Augmentation (General Psychiatry)
- Misuse of Legally Available Substances in Adolescents and Teens (Child Psychiatry)
- Fentanyl Testing: An Emerging Harm Reduction Strategy (Addiction Treatment)
- Don’t Delay: Interventions in Early Psychosis (Hospital Psychiatry)
- Managing Insomnia in Older Adults (Geriatric Psychiatry)
