From The Carlat Child Psychiatry Report

Joshua D. Feder, MD.

Our summer advice: The summer is hot, and we, ourselves and our patients, need to hydrate. The internet is on fire, and we, ourselves and our patients, need to know how to manage its potential dangers. The street weed and pills have deadly fentanyl, and we, ourselves and our patients, need to know how to test for fentanyl and use naloxone in an emergency.

Our summary of this issue: We’ll help you address loneliness and social isolation as well as internet issues ranging from sexting to social contagion. We’ll help you get your older teens ready for the transition to college. We’ll give you research updates about kids and teens on physical activity and depression, online cognitive behavioral therapy for obsessive-compulsive disorder, alcohol use and depression, and meds to avoid antipsychotic-induced weight gain.

Tell us how we’re doing!
