After reading these articles, you should be able to:

  1. Compare the safety, efficacy, and clinical applications of neuromodulation techniques and metabolic interventions for treatment-resistant depression and cognitive decline in geriatric patients.
  2. Distinguish between appropriate and coercive psychiatric interventions in older adults and apply shared decision-making strategies to minimize unnecessary use of involuntary treatment.
  3. Identify high-risk psychotropic medications and implement appropriate monitoring strategies for older adults with cardiac, pulmonary, renal, and hepatic conditions.
  4. Summarize some of the findings in the literature regarding psychiatric treatment.
