Abigail is a host of the Carlat Psychotherapy Podcast. She completed her undergraduate education in Psychology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Montclair State University, and is an aspiring clinical psychology doctoral student. Currently, she is a research assistant at the Laboratory of Personality, Psychopathology, and Psychotherapy Research at Pennsylvania State University, the Treatment and Assessment of Personality Pathology Lab at Fairleigh Dickinson University, and the Laboratory for Dynamic Processes of Psychopathology and Psychotherapy at Bar-Ilan University. Abigail's research focuses on personality pathology, especially Borderline and Narcissistic personality disorders, and psychotherapy process and outcome, including mechanisms of therapeutic transformation and obstacles that cause treatment resistance. In addition to her research, Abigail works on an inpatient adolescent unit at New York Presbyterian-Westchester Behavioral Health Center, which has informed her interest in development psychopathology and early interventions for mental illness. She is passionate about improving clinician understanding of the developmental roots and mechanisms of change underlying psychopathology and advancing the effectiveness and accessibility of interventions for those historically marginalized in treatment research.
