How do you establish trust with patients who have psychosis? Dr. Ruffalo: Shorter sessions are more appropriate for psychotherapy with schizophrenia, like 30 minutes instead of the usual 45–50 minutes. Longer sessions tend to increase the patient’s interpersonal anxiety.
